Nursery
Nursery have been busy over the half-term break, making super pictures, models or collages of a place they have visited in Wales.
This week, we have also celebrated St David's Day, by making Welsh cakes, dressing up in Welsh costumes, and
performing our Welsh songs to our families.
Thank you so much to all the parents/guardians who have supported not just the homework, but also for attending
the concert in Nursery. We had a fabulous turnout, and the children were amazing!

Reception
Today we have celebrated St David’s Day. We have taken part in an arts and craft activity making a Welsh Wreath, played rugby, listened to the story of St David and tasted some Welsh cakes. This has been a great immersion day to our new topic ‘Wonderful Wales’.
We have also taken part in our St David’s Day competitions of handwriting and painting daffodils. We look forward to finding out our winners on Friday!

Year 1
Year 1 ended last half term on a high, creating our Round Houses out of clay and straw. A big thank you to Alyshia Butcher (Arthur’s mummy) for bringing in some straw from her farm for us to use.
Although we’ve only been back two days, we’ve been incredibly busy getting ready for our St David’s Day celebrations.
Yesterday we spent time learning about St David and Welsh emblems and decorated our classroom with Welsh ladies and designed our own love spoons.
Today we’ve really enjoyed working our way around the activities - story telling and tasting in Year 1, rugby with the Year 2 staff and Arts and Crafts with Reception Staff.
Look at all our amazing home school DT tasks too! We are super creative

Year 2
Yesterday we went on our super fun trip to Sea View Farm in St Athan. Farmer Alysha showed us around and taught us so many things about what life is like on a farm. It was an amazing experience to get so close to the cows, sheep and lambs. We all loved holding and stroking the lambs, they are so cute! After seeing the animals, we then went to storage barns where Alysha keeps the wheat, oats,
barley and oil seed rape. We could not believe how huge the mounds of crops were. We can’t wait for Alysha and the lambs to visit us in school.

Year 3
Year 3 have had a fabulous day celebrating St David's Day. The children have enjoyed moving around Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. They have been using Blooket online to practice reading Welsh phrases, made daffodils, listened to Welsh Legends
and took part in a Welsh quiz and have had lots of fun.
We are looking forward to Friday and finding out who the Year 3 winners are for the poem, DT, handwriting and art competitions. Good Luck everyone!

Year 4
Our last topic “School Days and School Ways” culminated with a role play/drama day of a ‘Victorian School Room’.
We had such a great authentic experience! We dressed as Victorian school children, our teachers were very strict and held a cane! We concentrated on the 3 R’s, we chanted our X7 tables, did a handwriting lesson – about Tom
Thumb’s alphabet, drew and labelled a buttercup and had great fun when skipping and singing various rhymes. We also made a thaumatrope. We’ve had the opportunity to compare and contrast Victorian and Modern day schools.
Many of us prefer education in 2023!

Year 6
Year 6 enjoyed an action packed and fun filled trip to Llangrannog before we broke up for the half term holidays. Even though they were there for only two nights, they took part in lots of activities and had lots of fun as they had a go at horse riding, trampolining, go-karts, tobogganing, skiing, quads, archery, high and low ropes, wall climbing, zipwire, swimming along with other activities in the evening.
