Easter Bonnet Parade for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
We are hoping to hold our Easter Bonnet Parade for Nursery, Reception Year 1 and Year 2 classes in the main school playground at 2.30pm on Thursday 7th April weather permitting. Parents are invited to enter the school playground to watch from 2.25pm, but this is very much dependent on the weather. If the weather is unsuitable parents will not be able to watch, as we will be doing it inside and we will e-mail out photos of the parade instead.
We will text parents to confirm in the morning.
If your child is making an Easter Bonnet, please bring it into school on Thursday, and ensure your child’s name is on it – thank you.
All children will be receiving an Easter egg from the PTA, and we thank them greatly for this kind gesture.

Nursery
Please see information related to the Easter Bonnet Parade, listed above. Also, please note, if any morning Nursery children wish to take part in the parade, they must come back to Nursery at 2.15pm – thank you.
Our Nursery classes thoroughly enjoyed seeing the lambs in school last week. Our older Nursery children visited the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes to take part in the New Curriculum 4 Purposes Activity Day. All teachers were impressed with how well behaved the children were, and this was a great transitional activity, preparing them for their move to main school in September!
Whilst our Nursery children were in main school, children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 visited Mrs Harris in Nursery to work on the Creative and Enterprising Pupose, creating Easter Craft and problem solving whilst doing an Easter Egg Hunt.

Reception
Reception have had another very busy week! We have been exploring and investigating using stories as a stimulus. We’ve explored colour, growth, changing materials and so much more.
Throughout this project we have developed our questioning and investigation skills. We also continued our work on real life experiences and visited the farm to see the crops growing. A big thank you to Batsleys farm for the visit.

Year 1
We have had a brilliant week so far in Year 1! Yesterday was so much fun exploring the four purposes of our curriculum. We had fun building cup towers and problem solving with Mrs Davies which showed us how we are Ambitious and Capable Learners. Then we went to Mr Hughes and found out all about how to make healthy choices which made us realise that we are Healthy and
Confident Individuals. Our next stop was Mrs Harris where we learnt all about being Enterprising and Creative Contributors. Finally we were back with Miss Williams learning about how to show our commitment to the sustainability of our planet through being an Ethically Informed Citizen. We really enjoyed the litter pick!
This week we have also been working hard on our Power of Plants topic. We have started an experiment looking at growing cress in a variety of conditions (with and without water and sun light) and made predictions about what we think will happen. We have also been learning all about the life cycle of a sunflower and how each flower creates more seeds which can be grown into more
flowers.
We have also been really lucky that we have got a lovely new outdoor play area and bikes we can use. On Friday we enjoyed playing in this area and are looking forward to finding out more how we can take part in active travel.

Year 2
Last Thursday we had a few special visitors in school...the cute lambs! It was so cool to able to stroke and feed the lambs. One of them was so greedy! Thank you to Alysha was bringing them in to school for us to see them. On Monday we were learning what plants and other livings things need to grow and survive. We
planted tomato seeds and fingers crossed they will grow to make yummy tomatoes for us to eat. Yesterday, we took part in lots of super cool activities all about the 4 Purposes and we had so much fun!

Year 3
A great day was had by all yesterday, children experienced a range of activities linked to the four purposes. Mrs Hickey worked with Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 on one of the four purposes. (Ethical Informed Citizens) There were great discussions from all year groups about how we can take care of their local community Wales and the wider world. Year 3 reused plastic bottles, Year 4 made a pledge to the
Earth, Year 5 looked at what happens to our rubbish and how long items take to decompose at landfill and Year 6 looked at packaging and the different recycling symbols to see what household items cannot be recycled.
Year 3 created milkshakes this week, the children measured out the ingredients and created healthy fruity milkshakes. They then wrote their own set of instructions for the recipe.

Year 4
Yesterday we experienced a fun packed day, as we had a carousel of different activities, as we were looking at the Four Purposes of the New Curriculum in Wales.
When looking at “Enterprising Creative Contributors” we covered activities which considered a variety of skills – sharing ideas and feelings with others, being kind, selfies and helping others being creative with new ideas and thinking creatively to solve problems. It was a very busy morning, as we visited each class in the juniors, to complete a different, exciting activity.
Today in Year 4, we’ve been planting sunflower seeds. We can’t wait to see them grow. Whose will be the tallest sunflower I wonder?

Year 5
This week Year 5 has been working on coordinates. We loved looking for the treasure. Also our rollercoasters are taking shape! The concentration on their faces!

Year 6
It’s been another busy week in Year 6. We’ve looked at how energy is used in schools. Did you know that schools use energy at weekends and during the holidays, just to keep things running. Yesterday was a fabulous day. We had a carousel of activities based around four purposes of the new curriculum for Wales. We visited the 4 KS2 classrooms, focussing on a particular core purpose in each. In the Year 6 classroom we were thinking about how we could become Ambitious and Capable learners. We challenged ourselves with a range of activities, including maths problem challenges, Sudoku, Easter research, puzzle games, reading, writing and speaking in Welsh. It was a great morning, which everybody enjoyed.
